「X GAMES ASPEN 2017」

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170825162113j:plain

 PSO2 RMT

HOW TO SKATEBOARD-Learning Other Tricks

  1. Try a pop shove it. Do an ollie as high as you can, then as you level off your feet, give a nudge with the front foot on the board so it spins 180 degrees. ...
  2. Try a kick-flip. ...

How to Do Skateboard Tricks

Learn Some Basic Tricks

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170714163517j:plain

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170714163523j:plain

1.Learn how to kickturn. A good place to start when learning how to do tricks on the skateboard is learning how to kickturn.
The kickturn basically involves leaning back on your board to lift the front wheels off the ground and do a 180 degree turn.
This gives you a very quick and precise turn, which can be done on the ground or on a ramp.
It is a good building block for more advanced tricks.
2.Do an ollie. The ollie is perhaps the most important trick you can learn, as it's the starting point for a huge array of more advanced tricks.
An ollie is basically a jump while the board sticks to your feet. To do an ollie, you need proper foot placement, along with good balance and timing skills.
Basically, you need to bend your knees in a crouched position as you roll, then jump up, popping the tail of the skateboard off the ground as you jump. Make sure to bend your knees as you land to absorb the shock.
As you get better, you can practice doing higher and longer ollies.
3.Do a nollie. A nollie is a variation of the ollie, which basically involves popping the front of the skateboard off the ground as you jump, rather than the back. Once you've mastered the ollie, the nollie should be easy to learn.
To do a nollie, shift your front foot to the nose of the board and place your back foot in the middle of your trucks. Crouch down, then jump up, popping the front of your board hard off the ground. Level the board in mid-air, then bend your knees as you land.
You might feel slightly awkward while learning to nollie, as learning how to pop the board with your non-dominant foot can be tricky. Don't worry if you can't get the same height with your nollies as you can with your ollies. - This is normal.
4.Learn how to manual. A manual is kind of like doing a wheelie on your bike, where you lean back and lift the front wheels of the skateboard off the ground, while still rolling.
Manuals are all about balance, so take some time to get your foot position right. Place your back foot on the tail of the skateboard (almost covering the whole thing) and place your front foot just behind the front trucks.
Now lean your weight backwards until the front wheels come off the ground and try to hold that position while rolling. Don't lean too far back though or the tail will drag across the ground, damaging your board.
When learning to manual, it is very common for skaters to lean too far back, shooting the board out in front of them. When this happens, it is easy to fall back and knock your head on the ground, which is very dangerous. Therefore, it is important to always wear a helmet while skating.
5.Do a 180. A 180 is basically an ollie where both you and your board spin 180 degrees in the air, landing switch or fakie. This is one of the more difficult basic tricks, so you should have your ollies and kickturns down before attempting it.
You can 180 frontside or backside -- this basically refers to which way you spin. Spinning forwards (backside) is considered easier than spinning backwards (frontside). *The words are opposite for flat ground tricks, spinning frontways will be backside and vice versa.
To do a frontside ollie, place your feet in ollie position. As you crouch down in preparation to jump, wind your body by turning your shoulders toeside towards the back.
Pop the back of the board off the ground, then rotate your shoulders frontside as you jump. The rest of your body and your board will follow your shoulders.
You can land fakie or switch: fakie means rolling backwards, while switch means riding with your non-dominant foot forwards.
6.Learn some variations. The vast majority of skateboarding tricks are simply variations on these basic tricks. The more variations you add, the more impressive your skateboarding will look.
Kickturn variations: frontside kickturn, tic-tac, fakie kickturn and kickturn on transition.
Ollie and nollie variations: Once you have learn how to ollie, you can start ollieing off curbs, ramps, down stairs, etc. You an also do 180s, 360s (or more rotations) both frontside and backside. In addition, any tricks you do with an ollie can also be done with a nollie, for variation.
Manual variations: For variations on the manual, you can do nose manuals (rolling on two front wheels instead of two back wheels), one foot manuals and one wheel manuals.

Inspired to buy a skateboard with X Games in town? There’s a lot to know

Odds are that if your son or daughter hasn’t asked you to buy a skateboard yet, he or she probably will at some point this weekend.

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170705164912j:plain

An X Games qualifying event is in town Friday and Saturday at Boise’s Rhodes Skate Park, and some of the best skateboarders and BMX riders in the world are aiming for a shot at making it to the X Games in Minneapolis.

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170705165050j:plain

Thousands are expected to turn out for the events, and it’s likely that some new skateboarders will be picked up in the process.

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170705164929j:plain

While veteran skaters know the ins and outs of purchasing a skateboard, it can be overwhelming for a rookie: How many different components does a skateboard have? What size board do I need? What brand is best? How much will it all cost? Where should I buy it?

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170705164942j:plain

Sporting goods stores and big-box outfits sell assembled skateboards that look legitimate enough; they are not, however, of the same quality one would find at a skateboard shop. Skateboarding is hard enough as it is, the experts say, and poor board quality can impede progress for young skaters.

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170705164959j:plain

“(The thing about) ‘box store’-brand boards is that they’re designed and built by toy manufacturers. So the biggest issue is that although you might be like a dollar or two cheaper than coming into an actual skateboard shop, once that kid gets that board ... they find out really quickly it’s really hard to learn on, it doesn’t push around very well, it doesn’t roll,” said Nate Alseth, a senior staff member at The Board Room skateboard shop in Boise.

How to Choose the Right Skateboard Deck

There are a lot of different parts on a skateboard, but one of the most obviously important is the skateboard deck. The skate deck is the flat board that you stand on when skateboarding. A shortboard, as opposed to a longboard or cruiser, is ideal for street skateboarding and vert skateboarding. It also remains the very best option for doing tricks, whether you are a beginner or a pro.

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170617164120p:plain

f:id:Bgirl4U:20170617164127j:plain

There are a few things to consider once you decide to build a complete skateboard, and picking the right size of deck is the first of many choices you'll make. Choosing board shape is also super important. The length, width, materials, and concave of your skateboard deck determine what you will be able to do on your skateboard.

Depending on how hard you skate, you'll want to replace your skateboard deck anywhere from after a few weeks to a year. Once the sides, nose, or tail of your skateboard deck show signs of splitting, it's time to start with a fresh board. Riding in wet or cold areas can also warp the shape of your board and make your skateboard wheels uneven, so be sure to replace your board if you feel or see any signs.
